Miss Nashville Tennessee

It's a good thing my best friend has great ideas because I'm at quite a loss on what to write about right now. She suggested I write about her, so, that's what we are doing.

Melinda Thrasher and I go way back. Way back to our freshman year of high school in 2014. I like to say that we were fated to meet.

Back then, I was the biggest lover girl alive. I met this clean cut, cute band geek that invited me to homecoming and to be his girlfriend. I was stoked!

I was the girl in the short skirt dancing during halftime, and this boy was the drumming, football star.

I remember one day, he warned me about a girl I was not allowed to talk to — boys need to understand that girls like to find out things for themselves.

So, naturally, I find out who this gorgeous blonde is and she's sitting in the band section at our home football game. I walk up the bleachers in my little dance uniform and right up to Miss Melinda Thrasher. I say something along the lines of "Hi!! I'm Lauren, I'm Steffen's girlfriend. He told me I'm not allowed to talk to you so I came to say 'hi' and that we should be friends."

Mindy has now been in my life for 9 years!!! Isn't that so amazing??

Being a girl's girl is more important than being a lover girl, in my opinion.

We have lived apart longer than we've lived near each other and I think it's beautiful that we've put in the work in our friendship. We try to visit 2-3 times a year and it's always the most heart-mending visits. We've seen the streets of Broadway on the 4th of July, two beautiful national parks, had the best cries along with the best laughs, many beach days, and endless sleepovers.

I unfortunately live states and states away from her, but she never fails to be the one I can count on.

I'm so lucky to have Miss Nashville Tennessee in my life
