THE CARRIE BRADSHAW EFFECT

Sex and the City has been my constant watch of the week, and every time I continue watching the show, the more I am inspired to write. Specifically about my feelings, experiences, travel memories, and random thoughts — everything.
Carrie always has the perfect outfit, the most gorgeous, curly hair, and a new story to talk about with all of her friends. I think we mostly have that last one in common.
Instead of writing about my thoughts in a New York City apartment, I am writing in the Santa Ana Airport.
Today, I'm hopping on a plane to visit one of my best friends, Jessica, for her baby shower in Santa Rosa, CA. She's having a girl! I spent the first half of the day finishing my laundry, working online, and packing for the last hour I had to spare before I left for the airport.
Travel
I've got 3 trips planned for the end of July up until mid-August. I've left myself with only a few days in between for working in the office, laundry, and packing.
Santa Rosa, CA (I'm on my way!!)
Chicago, IL for Lollapalooza.
Grand Cayman, because I need to be back on island time.
Health journey
Toned, tan, fit, and ready is the goal.
I've been trying my best to get over 10k steps a day. Lacey, my roommate, and I’s goal is to walk 5+ miles a day. Though it doesn't always happen, the consistent effort is there. Seeing the prettiest beach views while we yap for two hours makes the journey feel worth it.
I'm already a little tan from days at the beach and the weekend I spent in Lake Shasta on a houseboat. I think I've got the perfect base for the Cayman Islands.
The hardest part about trying to get toned is maintaining a healthy amount of calories and carbs with small, daily treats. I had a little party on the 20th for my birthday, and leading up to it, I've been going ham on the snacks, bread, and desserts. I almost can't resist a sweet treat.
Friends & Family
I've been blessed to see so many of my friends this year, and I've made new ones!
I got to spend my birthday with a group of friends that fill my heart up with so much love. I finally got to see a handful of my friends meet and interact with each other for a few hours and it was the coolest.
Having a nice set of friends at work has made coming into the office a whole lot better. I never go a day without these girls putting a big smile on my face.
I get to keep up with my long-distance friends on all of the latest hot gossip often. I miss you guys so much:,) I hope to see you very soon.
My Uncle just recently went through a knee-replacement surgery, and he's doing great! He’s walking more and more every day but going a bit stir crazy being stuck at home. I need to make a better effort to visit him more.
Dating
Maybe the best thing I can do to describe my dating life is through a few Carrie Bradshaw quotes. I’m reminded to stop constantly hoping to find, as shitty as he is, my version of Mr. Big, and start thinking about the love I already do have. (Why do guys have to feel “torn” choosing between their future goals and a relationship? Couldn't you have both?)
"And then I realized I do have faith. Faith in myself. Faith that I would one day meet someone who would be sure that I was the one."
“Being single used to mean that nobody wanted you. Now it means you’re pretty sexy and you’re taking your time deciding how you want your life to be and who you want to spend it with.”
"No matter who broke your heart, or how long it takes to heal, you’ll never go through it without your friends.”
And I couldn't help but wonder…maybe if I watched Sex and the City weekly, I’d post more frequently.
